The Ricky McDowell music scholarship was created in the memory of our late father Ricky McDowell. Ricky had a deep passion for his family, motorcycles, classic cars and of course music. We couldn’t think of a better way to honor him other than offering three local music scholarships.

 

Two of the scholarships go to students who are continuing their education in music following HighSchool. The third scholarship goes to Band of Angels to help provide private lessons to those kids where financial barriers may exist.

Music can be an outlet for kids to help them cope, music also engages cognitive functions, such as planning, working memory, inhibition, and flexibility. Music is a great way for kids to be able to express themselves and use their own creativity.

We thank all of those who help make these scholarships possible and we hope to continue to help these local kids for many years to come.
